Careers: Web Developer

4SIGHT Communications has an immediate need for an experienced web and intranet developer. In this role, you will work with other 4SIGHT Communications team members and clients in planning, designing, and implementing engaging, functional, and scalable web-based applications. As the key link between business requirements and technical implementation, you will draw upon your expertise to determine and implement the best technical approach for a given project, including application architecture, software selection, development tools, system infrastructure, and implementation methodology. Finally, you will lead a development team in agile and iterative implementation, collaboratively defining implementation milestones and managing the team’s progress to ensure the final quality and timeliness of the product.

Other specific responsibilities:

• Consult with clients about their business goals to determine what technology solutions and strategies match their needs
• Collaborate closely with creative design team in building rich interactive applications
• Own the overall technical quality of each solution leading

Requirements & Qualifications:

• 5+ years building web-based applications using standards-based web technologies
• Strong working knowledge of web technologies such as PHP, Ruby, or JSP
• Experience developing web applications with Ruby on Rails a strong plus
• In-depth knowledge of browser technologies including xHTML, CSS, AJAX and Javascript, and related technologies
• Knowledge of CSS compliance and limitaions with various browsers
• Ability to quickly learn and use ready-made components, libraries, and plug-ins from 3rd parities
• Experience working with RDBMS’s such as MySQL, MSSQL, or DB2
• An understanding of the basic principles of information architecture and user-centered design processes, techniques, and tools
• Experience with 3-tier application development such as J2EE or .NET
• A proven ability to self-manage and self-start under aggressive timelines
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects
• A strong and demonstrable dedication to quality and detail balanced with creative thinking and problem solving
